Book 3 Chapters 4-6

"Only surrender, and everything else followed" (350)

Winston is realizing that his life is so much easier if he just accepts the society he is in, as opposed to being rebellious and going through the hard work or rebelling. After all, he was put in Room 101 all because of his crimes that could have been evaded if he just listened to the party. This reminds me a lot of our current political climate. Most specifically the 2016 Presidential election. Hillary Clinton lost a lot of votes due to the scandals, her votes went to Trump or third party candidates. Now all the people who voted for third party candidates regret wasting their vote. They wanted so bad to rebel against Hillary that they gave their vote to a third party like the Green Party.
